For the first time in the college’s history, Penn State Berks will feature a student soloist at its spring commencement ceremony. Malinda Garcia has been selected to sing the Penn State Alma Mater and the National Anthem at the ceremony at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 4, at the Santander Arena in Reading.
This spring, Penn State Berks students have developed two new apps that won awards in Penn State's HackPSU Spring 2024 competition. They also found time to serve the local community by providing education on cybersecurity issues and best practices to seniors.
When you meet Rogelio Flores, it’s hard to believe that he once considered dropping out of high school. The Reading High School graduate will cross the stage to earn his baccalaureate degree in electro-mechanical engineering technology, with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, during the Penn State Berks spring commencement ceremony at the Santander Arena in Reading.
Samantha Hagenbush has built quite the resume during her time at Penn State Berks. She’s been a mental health advocate, a three-sport student-athlete, and a consistent leader of campus clubs and organizations. On Saturday, May 4, she’ll don a new hat — college graduate — when she earns her baccalaureate degree in kinesiology with a minor in psychological sciences.
The workshops, conducted by Penn State Berks faculty and students, as well as clinicians from local hospitals, are for high school students with an interest in science and engineering and their applications to human movement. The event also included interactive laboratory activities, and school and career information.
Six Penn State student startups have been selected into the 2024 Invent Penn State Summer Founders Program. The Summer Founders Program provides teams with at least one Penn State student founder a $15,000 grant to work on their startup, social good, or nonprofit idea over the summer at Happy Valley LaunchBox powered by PNC Bank.
Students from Penn State Berks and Penn State Mont Alto traveled to Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to spend their spring break volunteering with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe of the Lakota Nation as part of the University’s Alternative Spring Break trips.
Streamline Charging LLC has received national and University-wide awards and recognition for its flexible and affordable electric vehicle (EV) charging solution. Most recently, VentureWell Accelerator’s E-Teams Program awarded the team a $20,000 grant. The team also received a $10,000 award at the Invent Penn State Inc.U Competition.
The Penn State Berks Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development Center hosted its annual Student Enterprise Award ceremony on March 25.
Penn State Berks has named over 720 students to the fall 2023 dean’s list. To earn a dean’s list designation, students must end the semester with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.
